Paul was not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation. He counted everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord.
The early church was mocked, and they rejoiced that they were counted worthy to suffer for the Name. That is not the world’s cool. It is better.
A Christian is
a child of God,
a temple of the Spirit,
a witness of the risen Lord, and
an heir of a kingdom that cannot be shaken.
You do not have to pretend the faith is trendy to tell the truth:
it is good to be saved,
good to be clean,
good to have a Master who loved you and gave Himself for you.
If the world calls that foolish, Scripture already said it would.
Romans 1:16 – “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…”
Philippians 3:7-8 – “But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.”
Mark 8:35-38 – “For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it… For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes…”
1 John 2:15-17 – “Do not love the world or the things in the world… And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”
Galatians 2:20 – “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.”
John 10:10 – “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
John 8:31-32, 36 – “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free… So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
Psalm 16:11 – “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Psalm 34:8 – “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”
Matthew 5:14-16 – “You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Acts 5:41 – “Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name.”
1 Peter 4:16 – “Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.”
2 Timothy 1:7-8 – “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord…”
Colossians 3:1-4 – “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above… When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”
1 Corinthians 1:18, 27-31 – “For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God… God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise… so that no human being might boast in the presence of God… ‘Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.’”
Romans 8:16-18 – “The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs… For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
Galatians 5:22-23 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…”
Hebrews 13:13-14 – “Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured. For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.”
Revelation 21:4-7 – “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes… The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.”
It is good to be a Christian. Not because the crowd clapped. Not because the faith was trending. Because Jesus saves. Because the Son sets people free. Because there is fullness of joy in the presence of God. Do not be ashamed of the gospel. Do not be ashamed of the Name. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Shine. Boast in the Lord. The world is passing away. The one who does the will of God abides forever. That is better than cool. That is life.
