Seek First the Kingdom is the command that rearranges the whole list.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,
and all these things will be added to you.
Do not be anxious about your life

what you will eat or what you will drink,
nor about your body, what you will put on.
The Gentiles seek all these things.
Your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
First is not a hobby.
First is the order of a life.
Jesus is in the middle of the Sermon.
- He has already named the Father who sees in secret, the treasure in heaven, and the single eye.
- Then He names the split heart: you cannot serve God and money. Anxiety is how that split feels in the body.
- Birds do not sow. Lilies do not spin. Tomorrow has its own trouble. Against that noise He sets a first thing: the reign of God and the righteousness that belongs to that reign.
Seek is active. It is the merchant looking for pearls and the disciple asking, seeking, knocking.
- First means the kingdom is not squeezed in after rent and reputation. All these things—food, drink, clothing—are not mocked. They are promised as added, not as the prize.
- The Father knows. That sentence is the cure under the command.
A life that seeks the kingdom first is not a life that stops working. It is a life that stops treating provision like a second god. The pearl and the field taught the same sale. Here the sale is daily: what gets the morning, the worry, the plan.
- First is order, not a slogan on a wall.
- Kingdom and righteousness travel together. You do not seek a reign without the King’s character.
- All these things are added, not earned as the main wage.
- Your Father knows is the ground of not being anxious.
- Gentiles chase the added things as if there were no Father.
- Tomorrow is not yours to swallow today.
- Seeking the kingdom is how treasure and pearl become a schedule.
- First – Priority of the reign over the pantry.
- Seek – Ask, hunt, knock; not drift.
- His Righteousness – The King’s rightness, not a private brand.
- All These Things – Needs named and promised as addition.
- Your Father Knows – Knowledge that kills anxiety’s lie.
- Not Two Masters – God and money cannot share first.
- Today – Sufficient is the day’s own trouble.
- Matthew 6:31-34 – “Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

In his joy he sold all and bought the field. The merchant sold all for the pearl.
The kingdom is not eating and drinking but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Put the reign first. Let the pantry be added. Seek Him. He knows. He adds. He is not a second master you squeeze in after the bills.
