Separation from the World is the holiness of a people who belong to God and will not share the world’s loves.
Come out from among them,
and be separate, says the Lord,
and touch no unclean thing.
Jesus did not ask that the church be taken out of the world.
He asked that they be kept from the evil one.
Separation is not a bunker.
It is a different heart,
a different walk, and
a clean break with darkness
while the saints still live next door.
Israel was told to be holy as the Lord is holy, and not to walk in the customs of the nations. The church is given the same call in a new covenant key.
- Paul asked what fellowship light has with darkness, what accord Christ has with Belial, what portion a believer has with an unbeliever. The temple of the living God cannot be yoked to idols.
- James called friendship with the world enmity with God.
- John forbade love of the world and the things in the world: desire of the flesh, desire of the eyes, pride of life.
- Peter named the saints sojourners and exiles and told them to abstain from passions that wage war against the soul. None of this cancels the mission.
You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world. As the Father sent the Son, the Son sent them. Separation from the world means refusing its worship, its moral night, and its claim to name the people of God. It does not mean refusing its hungry, its sick, or its need of the gospel. The Pharisee separated and despised. The disciple separates and serves. The line is holiness, not distance for its own sake.
- Separate means holy unto the Lord, not proud unto yourself.

- Love of the world is the inner failure; isolation is the false cure.
- In the world, not of the world, is Jesus’ own map.
- Touch no unclean thing is about worship and walk, not about erasing neighbors.
- A church that cannot say no to the world cannot say yes to the lost with any power.
- God welcomes those who come out. He is a Father to them.
- Holy Identity – A people for His own possession.
- No Unequal Yoke – Righteousness and lawlessness do not share a team.
- No Friendship as Enmity – The world’s love affair is not harmless.
- Sojourner Walk – Exiles who still do good among the Gentiles.
- Kept from the Evil One – The request of John 17.
- Sent In – Separation of heart, presence of mission.
- Welcomed by God – Come out, and I will be a Father to you.
- 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 – “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God… ‘Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.’”

Salt belongs on the earth. Light belongs on the hill. Holiness belongs in the heart.
Do not be conformed to this world. Be transformed. Be separate. Be useful to the Master.
