From Genesis to Revelation the Bible presents a real war in the unseen realm that affects the visible world. The serpent deceives; the devil tempts, accuses, and seeks to devour; demonic powers oppose the gospel and afflict people; and the church is called to stand against the schemes of the evil one. This warfare is not a dualistic struggle between equal forces. God is sovereign, Christ has already disarmed the rulers and authorities, and the final outcome is certain. Spiritual warfare is therefore fought from victory rather than for victory. It involves sober awareness of the enemy, firm reliance on Christ’s finished work, the daily putting on of God’s armor, resistance to temptation and accusation, and persistent prayer in the Spirit. The weapons of this warfare are not fleshly but have divine power to destroy strongholds. The church advances by proclaiming the gospel, living in holiness, and holding fast the word of testimony, even at the cost of life itself.

Yet the decisive battle has already been won. Christ disarmed the rulers and authorities, destroyed the one who has the power of death, and now reigns far above every power. Believers stand in that victory. The call is not to fear or to chase demons, but to be strong in the Lord, to put on the whole armor of God, to resist the devil firm in the faith, and to pray at all times in the Spirit. Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. Fight from triumph, stand firm, and keep your eyes on the Captain of your salvation who has already overcome.
